A straight teeth and a nice smile is possible to achieve with braces. However, wearing braces is usually associated with thick and ugly metal wires and brackets. Currently, with all the improvements in orthodontics, straightening teeth can be done without sacrificing aesthetics. Nowadays, clear aligner systems such as Invisalign offer a barely visible alternative to metal braces.

Invisalign is a series of clear, removable plastic aligners that is designed to gradually move and straightened teeth. The Invisalign treatment process involves taking a mould of the patient’s teeth that is scanned in order to create a computerized model. Using the doctor’s treatment plan, the computer model creates stages between the current and desired teeth positions that are used to create moulds for individual aligners.

Aside from being virtually unnoticeable, there are also other advantages of Invisalign over metal braces. They are removable, so the patient is unrestricted to any food that he wants to eat unlike in metal braces that the patient cannot eat hard or crunchy foods. Invisalign also allows the patient to brush and floss teeth normally whereas in metal braces, cleaning teeth is more difficult because of the wires and the brackets. Frequency of appointments is also less, because the patient needs only to come every two months compared to metal braces that the patient need to come every month.
